Hadleigh Choral Society’s year starts in the autumn with a major concert (end of November or early December). The second major concert is presented usually just before Easter. Both concerts feature a varied programme of music chosen by the choir’s Director of Music, conductor Christopher Phelps.

The 80-strong choir is accompanied by the Colchester Orchestra which provides orchestral items in addition to the choral works performed. They are joined by leading East Anglian soloists and rehearsal accompanist John Cooper who plays organ, harpsichord and piano as required by the programme.

Concerts are held in Hadleigh’s St Mary’s Church where there is seating for about 250 people.

The range of concert material performed since Christopher Phelps took the baton in 1991 is amazingly varied and a full history of the Society’s concerts can be found by going to the Archive.

Recordings of some performances are available on CD

and can be obtained from the Society.
